The Election
Back-story:
Harry
Frances was an unassuming accountant from New Jersey. He lived a safe,
predictable and quiet life until one Tuesday morning that changed his life
forever. As Harry waited for his usual breakfast, in his usual booth in his
usual diner, he fiddled with his new cell phone. When Harry got to his office
later that day he discovered that he accidently recorded a conversation between
the two men who had sat in the next booth from him at the diner. Harry was
shocked to hear that he had recorded the two men's plans to take over White
House. Harry very frightened with this information and not sure what to do
finally decided to take this information to the CIA.
It
was learned Harry had stumbled on information from a very powerful terrorist
group. This group was grooming a very charismatic and powerful senator named
Jack Canfield to be the next President of the United States. Jack Canfield was
very well liked and the media was already declaring him the winner of the
upcoming election. Jack Canfield was however a puppet of the terrorist group
and the recording revealed that with Jack Canfield as President the group would
take the United States down. The
CIA knew this could not happen. They come up with a plan.
A
month after passing this information onto the authorities Harry Frances got an
unexpected visit from the Director of the CIA. Harry Frances was told it was
his patriotic duty to be the opposing candidate in the next election. The media
and the American public thought this to be ridiculous and so did Harry Frances.
But he knew he had no choice but to run.
Gameplay Mechanics:
The
game The Election is a game where you
must guide Harry Frances through the White House collecting ways for Harry to
win the election to score points (such as: lower taxes, better healthcare plan,
etc.) while trying to get him to the center of the maze, which is the oval
office. If you collect up to 100 points and reach the office within the time
limit, you get to advance to the next level. However, if you collect something
that can cause problems to his campaign (like losing a debate, scandal,
misspeak to the press) then you will loose points. Also if Harry runs into Jack
Canfield or one of the terrorists, then he will have to start back at the start
of the level. There are doors that can lead to shortcuts through each maze. This
is a gamble however, because these doors can also lead you into some terrorists
or Jack which will both deduct points and lead Harry back to the beginning.
Along the walls of the maze or "White House" will be portraits of
past Presidents. Each portrait has an unusual and helpful tool. Once the player
reaches a portrait he can keep the tool that can help him in his mission. For
instance President Washington will have an axe that will help Harry Frances if
and when he comes across an obstacle such as piece of furniture in his way.
This can also create a shortcut to the Oval Office. Once at the Oval Office
Harry Frances will be the President of the United States and will have saved
the country.
